Meet Chef Ryan Summers

At an early age, Ryan Summers enjoyed the artistic outlet cooking provided and developed a strong passion for exploring the world of food. While other kids spent their time on the playground, Ryan could always be found in the kitchen with Mom and Grandma, helping to prepare the next family meal. This early curiosity led Ryan to grow up experimenting with various genres of ethnic fare and unique flavor combinations. Today, French, Asian, Italian, Southwestern, and Southern home cooking all influence his extraordinarily creative and comforting culinary style.

Ryan was born in Kansas City, but has also lived in Denver and Atlanta. As a result, a wide variety of American regional flavors can be found in his recipes. Ryan moved to North Carolina in 2001 to study Sociology at Appalachian State University in Boone. It was during this time that Ryan finally embraced his true calling in life - to become a professional chef and share his artistic talent with everyone, not just those who were lucky enough to sit at his kitchen table.
Ryan began working at a small French/Italian restaurant in Boone called The Bistro, where he learned the fundamentals of the fine dining experience and the importance of creating dishes from scratch. After two years, Ryan was promoted to Executive Chef and honed the skills that kept his customers coming back for more. 

In 2009, Ryan moved to the Raleigh area and joined the team at Peak City Grill in Apex, NC under the tutelage of Executive Chef Franz Propst. Ryan’s culinary techniques continued to develop, as well as his managerial abilities, attention to detail, and his passion for creating delicious meals.

In May of 2015, Ryan found a new home at Chef’s Palette. In the short time Ryan has been here, he has proven himself to be an exceptionally hard-working and customer-focused team player with a wealth of knowledge. Ryan’s ability to put together a memorable dish that is not only scrumptious, but beautifully presented, is inspiring. On a personal level, Ryan is friendly, respectful, intelligent and charming! We could not be more pleased that he is at the helm of our fantastic kitchen crew!

In November of 2016, Ryan and two other local chefs won the state-wide NC Competition Dining Event Series! Ryan is now officially considered one of the best chefs in the State of North Carolina!
